About Chess Rating HQ
Chess Rating HQ does one thing well: it converts a chess rating between Chess.com and Lichess and tells you where you stand among active players. No accounts, no clutter, no cost.
What this site is
This is a single, focused tool. You type your rating, pick a platform and a time control, and it returns the equivalent rating on the other platform along with your percentile. It loads fast, it is free to use, and it keeps your input private. That is the whole promise, and we would rather do that one job properly than bury it under features nobody asked for. Chess Rating HQ is part of a small family of free, single-purpose web tools built by an independent maker.
Why it exists
Most rating conversions floating around the web are built on a formula someone locked in years ago. Rating pools are living populations, though. They shift as new players arrive and old ones drift, so a fixed formula quietly goes stale. We take a different approach: we recompute from fresh platform data every month, show a confidence range instead of a single false-precise number, and publish exactly how we do it. If you want to check our workings, the methodology page lays out the data and the steps.
Private by design
Everything happens in your browser. The rating you type is used only on your own device to look up baked-in tables, and it is never uploaded, stored, or seen by us. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to. The full details are on the privacy page.
